How to watch the Premier League online: Four live games available to stream this week

Our guide to watching Premier League action live in the UK and abroad

You can stream four live games in the Premier League this week, including Arsenal vs Crystal Palace and Bournemouth vs Liverpool.

Saturday 20 January first takes us to the Emirates as an out-of-form Arsenal take on Crystal Palace. The Gunners’ poor show of form has left them with only one win from their last five following a 2-1 defeat to Fulham, while Palace ended an eight-game winless streak with a 3-1 win over Brentford in their previous outing. Kick-off gets underway at 12.30pm on TNT Sports 1.

The second game of the day sees Brentford face Nottingham Forest at the Gtech Community Stadium. Both teams sit just above the relegation zone and will be eager to collect three points if they’re to distance themselves from the teams below. Brentford have lost seven out of their last eight games, whereas Forest’s shift in form saw them secure back-to-back wins against Newcastle and Manchester United. You can catch it live at 5.30pm on Sky Sports Main Event.

Sunday 21 January provides us with two more live games, with the first pitting bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United against West Ham. The Blades have registered just two wins all season, with their last coming against Brentford at the beginning of December, while West Ham’s rich vein of form has seen them collect ten points from four games, lifting them to 6th and only four points shy of Arsenal in 4th. Action gets underway at 2pm on TNT Sports 1.

Later that day, Bournemouth welcome Liverpool to the Vitality Stadium. The Cherries had enjoyed a seven-game unbeaten streak before dropping points in their 3-1 defeat to Tottenham. Table-toppers Liverpool haven’t lost a game since September but will go without Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endō, both of whom are on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations and AFC Asian Cup. You can watch it live at 4.30pm on Sky Sports Main Event.

Sky Sports and TNT Sports are the two main broadcasters of live Premier League football in the UK during the 2023/24 season, with Amazon showing two rounds of matches live on its Prime Video service in December.

Details about the various ways to access their channels can be found below. You’ll also find information about the platforms that show Premier League games abroad and the best VPNs to access content anywhere in the world.

How to watch the Premier League: Which broadcasters will show games in the UK?

The Premier League’s broadcasting deals with Sky Sports, TNT Sports (the new name for BT Sport) and Amazon Prime Video will continue until the end of the 2024/25 season meaning you’ll need to subscribe to all three services if you want to watch as much live football as possible.

If you have to pick one broadcaster, Sky Sports remains your best bet as it has the rights to the largest number of games, with TNT Sports continuing to show the early kick-offs on Saturdays.

Details of how to subscribe to each service and the various packages available are provided below. If you live abroad, you can stream games live on NBC Sports in the US, DAZN in Canada and Optus Sport in Australia. All of the aforementioned services can be accessed while abroad using a good VPN service, like ExpressVPN.

How to watch the Premier League on TV in the UK: Sky Sports

If you’re subscribed to Sky, then you’ll need to add Sky Sports to your existing package. It will currently cost you £25/mth for a contract running 18 months. If you already have a Sky subscription, then you’re also automatically the owner of a Sky Go account, giving you access to Sky Sports, Sky Movies and other top channels such as Sky One and Sky Atlantic, along with Sky’s excellent catch-up and on-demand service.

There is a catch, however. Sky Go limits you to three devices, and you can only watch one of these at any one time. If you subscribe to Sky Go Extra, however, you can register up to four devices. This costs £5 extra on top of your Sky Go subscription. You can add and remove one device each calendar month, so if you’re likely to be following the action on multiple devices, make sure you’ve planned in advance which ones you’re likely to be using at any given time.

How to watch Premier League online wherever you are: Use a good VPN service

If you’re away from the country and want to follow the Premier League action live as if you were browsing from your couch, then your only way to do this is by using a virtual private network, or VPN. These cross-platform services fool your devices into thinking that you’re browsing from your home country even if you’re away. It’s worth noting that the further you are away from your home country, the slower your streaming speeds will be.

There are many VPN services, but the one we rate most highly for streaming is ExpressVPN. It’s fast and has previously been audited to prove that it doesn’t log or store any user data. You can install it on your PC, Mac, Android and iOS devices and use it on five devices at the same time, which is ideal for a family or a group of friends. Apart from that, it has a wide range of servers in different countries, consistently fast speeds and offers a 30-day moneyback guarantee so you can try it out risk-free.

Another recent favourite is Surfshark VPN. Unlike ExpressVPN and NordVPN, Surfshark doesn’t have any restrictions on the number of devices you can use it on. If you ever encounter a problem or need general help, you can contact its 24/7 customer support, who will promptly help you out. Despite being one of the newer VPNs on the block, it has an impressive set of features that will only get better in time. Best of all, its three-year plan is the cheapest we’ve seen.
